This past weekend after working one of our weddings with Vancouver Mobile Makeup in the valley we drove by an adorable sign simply saying “Cheese and Pork” at a farm on Lickman Road in Chilliwack, so obviously we HAD to stop!
Smits & Co.w Farm Cheese is a family-run farm that makes gouda style cheese from their holstein and brown swiss cows. They also carry Dutch candies and snacks as well as a freezer full of meats from Verard Farms. Some days they also offer farm fresh eggs for sale as well; I was so sad I missed out (they get snatched up really quickly) 🙁
It took a while to decide, but I got a wedge of the blueberry cheese, a tri-pack of chilli pepper, stinging nettle, and tzatziki, a pack of farmer sausage, and two packs of bacon. Because BACON.
I am super excited to try the stinging nettle. I love new and usual or creative foods.
It was such a nice way to cap off a sunny day and support local business … and deal with post-work hunger 🙂
If you’re out near Chilliwack, BC, take the south exit onto Lickman Road. The farm will be on your right.
Store Hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9-5.
Look for the Cheese and Pork sign and enjoy!
P.S. What are your favourite kinds of cheese? Would you try something new and unusual?
